SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Software QA (SQA) Lead will provide expertise and leadership in quality assurance, quality management and software testing for our clients' organizations through effective management of team members, collaboration with IT and business partners, and guidance on quality tools and best practices.

The SQA Lead's first assignment will be a 1+ year engagement at a client site in Olympia, Washington. The client's testing challenge is broad and highly technical, requiring innovative thinking, extensive client interaction, consensus and team-building, and the ability to design and implement a testing plan for the client organization.

The SQA Lead will work with strategic support from Critical Logic leadership, with direct responsibility for delivery to the client.   The ideal candidate will reside in or near Olympia during the engagement. Reimbursement for relocation and/or travel expenses will be negotiated on an as-needed basis for candidates willing to move or commute.

Critical Logic has a long history of work with a variety of WA state agencies in and around Olympia, and expects additional engagements to arise locally in the future. Critical Logic also maintains a permanent office in Spokane, WA from which much of its other client work is performed remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expertise and leadership in all aspects of Software Quality Assurance in a consulting capacity on customer projects, representing both internal and external interests
  • Identify, initiate, and drive implementation of quality measures within client IT organizations
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to build consensus on goals, plans, and approach
  • Lead small, technical test teams including both internal and Client resources
  • Provide project management support, including development of project plans as needed
  • Prepare periodic project status reports for internal and external audiences
  • Analyze and learn highly technical specifications of complex integrated systems and interactions
  • Author and deliver technical test plans tailored to the needs of unique client projects
  • Implement and monitor automated test environments
  • Perform all aspects of software test execution, including testing, data, and defect management
  • Perform test data analysis, create test data, and test data specifications
  • Establish defect tracking tools and procedures
  • Learn and leverage Critical Logic's Cause-Effect Modeling technology for analysis and test design where appropriate


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5+ Years QA lead or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, resource allocation, problem-solving and decision-making, working with and managing highly technical staff
  • Strong formal written communication skills for test plan & specification authoring, and email communication
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles, test execution progress and results reports
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret detailed technical specifications of low-level functional software components, and to develop test plans and test cases to exercise them
  • Experience in and deep understanding of a variety of SDLCs and methodologies, including Agile
  • Experience working effectively across divisional lines in a complex, enterprise level organization
  • Familiarity with common software development terminology and formalisms, including SQL & UML
  • Experience with a variety of system types, including mainframe, web, client-server, and SOA environments


USEFUL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience developing diagrams in UML (Class, Activity, State, Sequence, Use Case)
  • Understanding of model-based testing principles
  • Experience in other aspects of software development, not just testing (development, requirements, etc.)
  • Test automation experience
  • Testing experience in Accounting or Timekeeping systems
  • Experience setting up and managing a Continuous Integration environment
